If could choose one book

If I had to choose one book to save I would save the bible. Although there probably are books that appear more interesting to us and less confusing, the bible is where it all started. Not everyone does, but a lot of people live their lives by the bible. Even if you aren't christian I believe the bible is still important because other religions study the old testament. Even if every person doesn't the read the bible, some people should know of it so that they can teach others as preachers do.If the bible were to no longer exist than life as we know it (those who live by the bible) would be destroyed unless we were to carry it on, on our own. I hope and pray that were, the world, is never put in the situation where the bible has an chance of being non existent.

Halloween

Growing up as a kid Halloween was always one of my favorite holidays because I loved getting to dress up for one night and having the choice to be whatever it was the that I wanted to be. I wasn't like the average kid when it came to this holiday because I never really ate much candy. Almost every year when I went trick or treating I would eat a little bit of my candy within the first 2 or 3 nights and then the rest of it would just sit in my candy bucket. I'm not really a big fan of chocolate candy so a lot of the times I would just eat the starburst, skittles and all of the other fruity candy. I remember one year I went trick or treating and I had dressed up as a vampire. I thought I was so cool because I got to wear black nail polish, fake fangs, and even blood on the side of my mouth. My cousins and I always went trick or treating together when we were younger and a lot of my friends lived in his neighborhood and I always thought it was really cool when we would stop at their houses for candy. Halloween wasn't my absolute favorite holiday but it came really close. Elementry school was always fun around holidays because we always got a chance to do fun stuff like play bingo for candy, color pictures and even complete crossword puzzles. Looking back I can say I always enjoyed Halloween as a kid.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

The painting that I chose from Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was The Kiss. I chose this picture simply because it was very appealing to me. He used red as the background, which definitely stuck out to me. I feel that the purpose of this painting was to give off the vibe that the painting is about love or maybe even lust. The audience would be the younger generation because the people in the painting appear to be young also which is why I mention lust because sometimes us young people think were in love with someone and we might not be. The genre of this of this picture is an actual oil painting. My stance on this painting is objective just because what this particular painting means to me might mean something else to someone else. I'm just making my own assumption, which is that this is a picture of a young couple that may be in love, and that they are making love to each other. The design/media of this picture is also print. With that being said, usually a picture has a bigger range of the way people respond to this because there is no print, nothing telling you what this picture is representing. So its up to you to create your own thoughts in your head. I think this is a beautiful painting, and I would like to own it one day and have it hanging up on a wall.

If I could change anything about WSU

If I could change anything about WSU I would like the school to be just a smidge bigger and in a different location. I wish that more people were involved with some of the things that go on, on campus. This is my first year so I understand that is why I don't know that many people now but I wonder if that will ever change. I also would like to add bigger parking lots. Looking for a parking space when you don't have an early class is the worse thing ever here at wsu. I think the size of the school is a decent size and I already don't like walking across campus now but it would be nice if there were even more people, that aren't commuters. I just feel that it would create an even better college like atmosphere. If I could move WSU to a different state then I would move it somewhere warm either close to a beach or even a lake. But if it were in a different location I don't know if I would even know about the school because one of the reasons I chose to come here is because it's close to home and I like that I can go home whether it's the or the weekend when I need something. Although I know that I can't change any of these things I am still happy with the choice that I made to come here because I think it's a really nice and great school visually and academically. I like all of my teachers so far and the people here are still really polite. Although a lot of these people are from nearby, they are still others who have traveled here from others states and I think it's really interesting to meet people that grow up in a different environment that you did because you can learn a lot of new things. I wish the population was more diverse in terms of culture but it is nice to see a place where the handicapped are excepted because I believe they should be able to do everything that those who aren't handicapped can do. Changes or not I still love Wright State.

Revision Process

As far as revising went I think it was a great thing to do no matter how good or bad you write because it's hard to catch everything the first time you write something. I love to have someonelse's perspective because sometimes I make up sentences that make absolutely no since. I feel that my original draft was going to just be okay and not my best because first I did wait until the last minute to write my paper and second I'm not really a good writer. I don't think it was horrible, I just knew it wasn't the best. I feel that in my writing I repeat a lot of the same words and I don't describe things very well. I think my revisions were great, and I'm glad that everyone was so honest and critical. My paper definitely needed it and I think the revisions will be of great help when I go to write my next paper. I like the drafting process because everytime you write the paper it gets better and better and everytime you notice something different that you can change to make your paper better. Everyones comments were very clear, a lot of them are little things that can easily be fixed. It's difficult because you really have to think and come up with some new and good ideas to write but easy because you know exactly what you are looking for in your writing. It's going fine, I just hope I have a good paper in the end.

Gendercide in China

A current event that I just recently learned about that has really affected me is the gendercide that is going on right now in China. There is now a policy in China where families are only allowed to have one child to keep the population down. The population right now is just under 1.5 billion people and I read that by 2040 there will approximately be 123 trillion people living in China. Due to the high population and birth rates in China a lot of women are being forced to have abortions if they don't produce a male although they are allowed to have a maximum of two children. Todays ratio from males to females is about 128 males to 100 females. Despite the fact that I think it is wrong to kill innocent children, I understand why this needs to be done because the population is so high in China and the government is trying to figure out what they can do to get the population to decrease. I believe that this process will work because if they are more men than women, there is less women to match up with every man which means there will be less children so that the population will do nothing but go down. I also read that in 10 years, by 2020, there will be 30 million more men the women. By this happening it may produce a rise in crime, prostitution and maybe even homosexuality. It is said that men will care for the old while women will just marry into another family are cause desert into the familes that they marry into. Now knowing all of this is taking place I hope that this mass killing of young girls is going to help out the country because otherwise it was just a waste and a lot of young innocent lives were taken.

The Power of Advertising

Advertisements, we see them everyday and everywhere. We even see them when we don't think were paying attention to them. They are powerful. By having a clever but possibly misleading advertisement people are still drawn to the product and buy them anyways. The thing with advertisements is that it can mean one thing to you but actually mean something else. And then there are advertisements that are just trying to advertise, trying to get the product out there so people know it's there. One thing I don't think people realize is how persuasive advertisements are and that you sometimes go out and look for something and you buy it and get home and it's something completely different than what it has appeared to be in the advertisement. There are many advertisements that have a lot of money poured into them to sell different products such as Victioria Secret always shows models in a new bra that they are trying to sell and get the word out there other corporations do this such as Levi jeans, mcdonalds ads always shows their newest sandwich, ipod always has an advertisement for their new ipod that comes out every few months, verizon with their new cell phones and more. Verizon is a huge one because a lot of people especially the younger crowd is always looking for the newest technology and next thing you know it's on their list for the next holiday. New shoes such as the newest Jordan shoe that comes out. And these days advertisers have become even smarter because majority of people spend their time on the internet so advertisements pop everywhere and even though pop ups can be blocked somehow somewhere advertisers get their point across. Advertising is powerful but I also am glad it was created because it wasn't for advertisements tthere are some things we would never know about.
